Surveying for this project proved to be a challenge. Gathering information of every nook and corner, anticipating how the new hospital would blend in with the remodel of the existing hospital, translating the gathered information on paper and conveying this to our consultants and contractors to achieve the desired design would not be possible with a traditional approach. So, the approach for this project was having on site AoR and consultants with the capability of creating construction documents for submittal to OSHPD and approval. The final result was a building that blends and fits into the architectural vernacular of California Mission Revival architecture while still achieving the functional goals of the medical facility.
